Lessons from the Past

Today’s students benefit from the rich stories of yesterday. Mind Missions lessons begin with learning about the past so that they can solve the problems of tomorrow.

Stories from the past help us to prepare for the future. Knowledge about our country, community leaders, and innovators provides a solid foundation for effective citizenship. Stories from around the world prepare us for effective global partnership. Stories about challenges of the past and today inspire us to help, create, and lead.

In each Mind Missions lesson, students connect with social studies through a story about a real-world historical or geographical problem. Students are inspired as they learn about leaders from the past and the challenges that they encountered. History’s lessons inform students as they prepare to meet the challenges from yesterday and overcome the emerging problems of today.

“It's good to learn from your mistakes. It's better to learn from other people's mistakes.”
